Former Arsenal legend David Seaman was left surprised by the performance of Arsenal defender Gabriel. Arsenal suffered a defeat against Liverpool at their home in the FA cup on Sunday. Owing to this, Seaman was very furious at Arsenal man after he missed his header. Although they created multiple chances, no one was able to deliver the final touch into the net. Gabriel Magalhaes appeared to have a brilliant chance to head home the opening goal during the second-half. However, the ball went past Gabriel before Bukayo Saka scooped his attempt over the bar.
Speaking on Seaman Says podcast, the ex-Arsenal legend said,
“You look at the chance that Gabriel left, it almost looked like he left it for Saka. The header. And then Saka chipped it over or something. That looked so strange.
The camera angles that we saw, it just looked like Gabriel could’ve just nodded it in. But unless he got a shout or something. But you don’t leave them sort of chances for someone else when it’s right there on a plate for you.”
This is now a third straight defeat for Gunners in all competitions. However, Arteta’s side could have been in a better condition far before Gabriel’s miss. Their forwards were unable to deliver in the final third during the first half where they had ample amount of chances. The attackers are not looking in a very impressive form throughout this season. Even Havertz missed a lot of chances giving his doubters a chance. The likes of Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli look set to go nowhere near the goals tallies they had last season. Above all, it is not the responsibility of defenders to give Arsenal goals everytime.
