Leicester City appoints Dean Smith as new manager after Brendon Rodgers left on mutual consent earlier this month.

The Foxes have officially confirmed the manager appointment of Dean Smith until the end of the season. Smith takeovers from Brendon Rodgers, who left the club on Sunday as the team is currently sitting in relegation-zone.

Leicester City said in their official statement:-

“Smith brings a wealth of managerial experience and expertise to the role and, along with his coaching team, will be tasked with helping the football club retain its Premier League status as we head into the final eight games of the current season.”

Craig Shakespeare and Chelsea youth John Terry will join Smith in the Leicester Camp.

However, Terry was rumoured to be joining his former team-mate Frank Lampard at Chelsea. But that did not happen and has now led to Terry leaving the club and joining his former Aston Villa colleague Smith at the King Power Stadium.

Dean Smith appointment came in the wake of Leicester’s 0:1 home defeat to Bournemouth and it was their 19th defeat of the season. Foxes have just 25 points in 30 league games.

After the appointment, Smith said:-

“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to lead the team during these final weeks of the season

“The challenge in front of us is clear, but it’s one myself and my coaching team have experienced before and, with the quality in this squad and the number of games remaining, it’s very much achievable.
