Norwich boss Dean Smith is searching his former club Aston Villa for a couple of signings for next summer.

The Norwich management and Smith have already started planning for next season. Smith knows which area of his team to strengthen in the coming season. His team currently sits at the bottom of the Premier League with only 21 points from 33 matches. They are yet to play 5 matches.

Coming from the Championship this season, they did not perform to the level they probably would have expected. The Canaries also had to sack their long-time manager mid-season. Daniel Farke- their former manager had been with the team for almost four years. He had helped the team reach the Premier League twice.

Dean Smith came on after he was sacked in November last year. However, taking charge of the team mid-season, he had not been able to revive the team’s prospects. Now, the team prepares to play another season of second-tier football.

Who are the prime targets of Dean Smith from Aston Villa?

One player who is believed to be Smith’s first choice is striker Cameron Archer. Smith is said to be a big fan of the player.

The 20-year-old is currently playing for the second-tier team Preston on loan. However, he has performed splendidly for this team, with seven goals under his belt.

Aston Villa is interested in signing the player for next season. However, Smith is more eager to sign this talented youngster. Moreover, he knows the player as he played under him and Smith also gave Archer his debut.

Villa boss Steven Gerard has said that he would first see him in pre-training and then only give his verdict whether to sell him or to keep him.

Smith, also wants another Villa prodigy who is currently playing for Stoke City in the Championship. 20-year-old Jaden Phiolgene-Bidace has shown great potential this season. Therefore, the Potters have voiced their desire of keeping the player for next season.
