Tottenham interest in the Barcelona defender Emerson seemed very remote. Reports were suggesting that Ilaix Moriba could move to Tottenham. But Moriba only wanted a move to RB Leipzig.
As the deal was collapsing Tottenham firmed their interest in the Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal. Initially, Tottenham included Serge Aurier in the deal but submitted a bid of £25.73 million for the fullback. The 22-year-old right-back has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham. Moreover, he has also completed his medical as a new Tottenham player.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo wanted to get more defensive options. Since his arrival, Serge Aurier has fallen down the pecking order and Japhet Tanganga has sealed his place in the lineup. Also Matt Doherty and Nuno Espirito Santo worked together at Wolves. But still, it seems like Japhet Tanganga his number one pick.
Meanwhile, Emerson joined Barcelona in 2019 from Atletico Mineiro. Later he moved to Real Betis and his move included a buy-back clause. Barcelona exercised the buy-back clause and bought him back this summer. Manuel Pellegrini preferred playing him in his team regularly.

After completing Emerson to Tottenham they are working on a deal to bring Wolves winger Adama Traore. Reportedly the winger wants a move to Tottenham and has asked his agent to engineer a move. The move would cost Wolves £50m or more as the winger still has two years left on his contract.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele is linked with a move to Bayern. The German Champions wanted to sign him in a swap deal including French midfielder Corentin Tolisso. Bayern Munich offered £17.2 million along with Corentin Tolisso but Spurs were not willing to continue talks.
