Everton interested in Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres

According to reports from Swedish outlet Football Direkt, Everton have registered an interest in Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Everton will need more signings up top after the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. Moreover, Dominic Calvert Lewin has been sidelined due to an injury as well, making it more important to get someone.

Solomon Rondon is another option available to the toffees in their current squad. However, the 32-year-old has not been very good in the Premier League last season, and may not help Everton achieve their targets.

Viktor Gyokeres can be a decent option in this scenario. The Swede can cover up the position for the time being, and be a rotation option after Calvert Lewin returns.

Gyokeres had a good season last time out, scoring 18 goals in all competitions. One performance in particular, against Blackpool, was particularly impressive. When asked if the performance was the greatest he had seen since joining the team, manager Mark Robins responded was full of praise.

It’s got to be up there. I thought he was outstanding, his running power was a joke. Hopefully, he can. He’s been called up into the Sweden squad and played some minutes in the full international set-up. So that’s something else that’s coming for him.

Things are moving in the right direction for him. He is still learning the game but a lot of the work that he does with his power and his pace, and obviously, he’s got an eye for a goal. There are still areas that he can work on clearly but yeah, I think he has got a lot of really good attributes to allow him to play at the top level at some point.

Will Everton Get Gyokeres?

Everton will be looking to get a deal done for the player. However, Coventry will obviously be reluctant to let go of their star man. They may demand a high fee considering it is around the end of the window and Everton have a large amount of cash after the Richarlison sale.
