Everton sign talented youth James Garner

Everton have completed the signing of 21-year-old midfielder James Garner from Manchester United. The transfer fee is a figure of around £9m including various add-ons. Garner has signed a deal for four years with the Merseyside Blues. Moreover, It is worth noting that Manchester United will retain a sell-on clause on the player. Consequently, United will get a part of the fee if Garner is sold to some other club in the future.

Garner is a Merseyside boy but joined the United academy to accelrate his development. He joined the United youth academy at the tender age of eight years. Moreover, he played his first professional game with United back in 2019 at the age of 17. Upon his debut, he was compared to the legendary Michael Carrick. He has been on a loan for the last year and a half to multiple Championship clubs. He has had loan spells with Watford and Nottingham Forest. Garner played 69 games with Forest and was an important player in Forest’s promotion to the Premier League. Now, the youngster joins Everton with the hope to make the team better this season

James Garner, in his first interview as an Everton player, expressed his desire to get better and better with each match. Moreover, the player also affirmed that he believes that this is the ‘perfect place for him to grow professionally. Speaking to the club website, Garner said:

“I’m made up to sign for Everton. It’s a huge step in my career and I want to help the team get better while progressing as a player. I think Everton is the perfect place to do that. I can’t wait to get started. The manager [Frank Lampard] has got a real plan for the Club and for me. Moreover, working with him on a daily basis is major for me. Him and his staff can take me and the team to the next level. That’s what I’m hoping for.
