Frankfurt manager jokes about Filip Kostic as transfer looms

Juventus

Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasne recently joked about the transfer of Filip Kostic to Juventus. The left wingback has been linked with a move away to Turin in this window.

Kostic has been a mainstay for Frankfurt over the years. He has often been underrated by football fans, despite having some amazing creative numbers. His performance against Barcelona in the Europa League quarter-finals last season caused the world to take notice.

Frankfurt went on to win the competition, overcoming Scottish giants Rangers in the final. Now, Kostic is the target of many clubs in Europe. He has only a year left on his contract, which will allow suitors to get him at a cheaper price.

Spurs were initially interested, with Antonio Conte at the helm. The Italian plays with a back three formation, which allows wingbacks like Kostic to shine. However, they decided to go for Ivan Perisic instead.

Juventus are another club that appreciate Kostic. They are looking to sign the flying Serbian to their ranks. However, a deal is yet to go through.

Filip Kostic was named in the starting lineup of the Bundesliga curtain-raiser, where Frankfurt took on Bayern Munich. Frankfurt were battered 6-1 by the defending champions, and Kostic was taken off in the second half.

This obviously raised some eyebrows. The press asked the manager about his decision, and he jokingly alluded to his potential move to Juventus.

I replaced him so he will be in top form in Italy next week

How Kostic Can Help Juve

Juventus are in a rebuilding stage at the moment. Their last few seasons have gone poorly, where they lost their title-winning streak in the league. They have added some fresh faces in the summer.

Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba are the notable ones, although the latter has suffered a serious knee injury. They would like to add Kostic to the mix, which can add a new edge to their game. His crosses to Dusan Vlahovic can help the Bianconeri to score many goals.
