Sky Sports reporter, Mark McAdam dropped the latest news on Aston Villa on his Instagram account in a Q&A session. According to him, the manager, Steven Gerrard will give ample chances to the club starlet Cameron Archer this season.

Aston Villa had a great start to their summer transfer window this season. They brought in several players adding to the depth of their squad. They added Boubacar Kamara for free who left Olympique Marseille to join the Premier League club. The Midlands club also managed to sign Philippe Coutinho permanently after the end of his loan spell. Gerrard and Co. are also desperate to add depth in various parts of the pitch and will continue with their hunt for low-fee quality signings.

On the other hand, Gerrard also said that he would make sure that the academy graduates can gain experience on the pitch. The young forward already have some first-team senior experience after the club loaned him out to Preston for last season. The 20-year-old had a successful loan spell and will look to knock on Gerrard’s door for gametime. In 20 apps last season for Preston, the forward netted 7 goals and registered an assist as well.

McAdam too believes that Gerrard has a knack to develop youngsters and tipped Archer to succeed under him. On Instagram, Mcadam responded to the fans of the Midlands club when they asked about a new striker. He said:

“Stevie G wants to give this man the chance to impress in pre-season. I like him a lot. They have good options already at the club.”

Aston Villa invested in a new striker in Danny Ings last season. In spite of him not firing goals as he did at Southampton, the club believes he will soon sync into the groove and form a formidable striking partnership with Ollie Watkins.
