Hamza Choudhury joins Watford on loan

Hamza Choudhury has joined Watford on a loan deal from Leicester City. The 24 year old has represented Leicester since he was 7 years of age. Watford have signed Choudhury on a season long deal with an option to make the move permanent. Choudhury is the fifth signing of Watford in the summer transfer window.

Choudhury has made 84 appearances for Leicester since his debut in 2017. His last appearance with the Foxes was in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Watford has released a statement regarding Choudhury’s arrival which states as:

Highly-rated midfielder Hamza Choudhury has signed for Watford FC on a season-long loan with an option to buy, the club confirms. The 24-year-old joins from Premier League side Leicester City, where he has plied his trade since the age of seven and has gone on to make a total of 84 first-team appearances since making his debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in September 2017.”

Hamza Choudhury and Watford

Choudhury made his professional debut for Leicester in September 2017. His debut was in the 3rd round of the EFL cup 3rd round in which the Foxes defeated the Reds. His Premier League debut was against Tottenham Hotspur as a substitute in the 83rd minute. Choudhury signed a four-year contract with Leicester in January 2020. On 2020 October Choudhury made his Europa League debut.

In doing so, he became the first player of Bangladeshi descent to make an appearance in a European League. In 2021, Choudhury made an instant impact in the FA cup final against Chelsea which Leicester would go on to win 1-0. Choudhury was also crucial in Leicester reaching the UEFA Europa League semi-final.
