Villa facing a predicament in the squad regarding the defender
Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has hinted at a “difficult” decision the club will face in the squad regarding Hause. Speaking to Football Insider Agbonlahor said :
“It’s going to be very difficult. You’ve got Carlos and Mings who, for me, will be the first choice as one left-footer and one right-footer for Steven Gerrard. Then you’ve got Konsa who is going to be coming back from an injury as well and Chambers as well. There are players ahead of him. It might be something that Steven Gerrard looks at as, do you let Kortney Hause go on loan and play some football? Or, does he stay and wait just in case there are injuries and suspensions and he can get his chance. It’s going to be difficult for him to get in that starting line-up.”
Hause made nine appearances for Villa last season. His most memorable moment was scoring the winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, now he is one of the senior-most players on the squad. And as things stand, he has fallen down the pecking order of the Aston Villa defense.
Hause was linked with a move to Watford in January before signing a new contract with Villa till 2025. Reportedly, West Ham is also interested in acquiring the services of the player.
