According to reports, the Whites and West Ham United have made him a priority signing. However, the Hammers have just confirmed the signing of Gianluca Scamacca. The signing pretty much ends their pursuit. However, Leeds United are still keen on signing the forward. The club have made seven signings this transfer window. However, they are still expected to remain active in the market.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in Martin Terrier. However, they will only move for him if Roberto Firmino leaves the club this summer. Hence, Leeds are the frontrunner in the race for his signature. The forward is compared to Thierry Henry. He said about the comparison, ” That’s very flattering – Thierry Henry is one of France’s best-ever strikers,” he said. “I’m a long way from that, but I do take inspiration from the best.” Rennes are reportedly demanding £34 million for Terrier.

THE PROFILE OF MARTIN TERRIER

Terrier is a versatile forward capable of paying anywhere in the front three. But, he prefers to play on the left side of the attack. This also explains Leeds United want him to replace Raphinha on the left wing of the attack. He is also a lethal finisher in front of the goal. He also caught the eye with his direct ball-carrying style. Terrier is a very intelligent footballer that becomes a nightmare for opposition defenders.

He has the ability to switch positions according to the positioning of the opposition defenders. European football writer Tim Williams compared his abilities to the French legend Thiery Henry. He also said, “Looking at his age and the phenomenal season he had last season, he will probably think that if he is ever going to make a big move to the Premier League, it’s probably going to be now or never.”

Terrier is coming off the back of his most impressive individual season so far. He was the third top scorer in Ligue 1. He scored 21 goals for Rennes. The goals helped them finish in the fourth position this summer. His impressive figures tell the reason why Leeds United want to sign him.
