Last year’s FA Cup winners Leicester City crashed out of the FA Cup this term in an embarrassing 4-1 defeat against Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Leicester City began the game in a positive fashion and dominated possession. But the home side scored two goals in quick succession after the 20th minute. Philip Zinckernagel scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute. While Daniel Amartey’s horrible back pass let Johnson in and scored with a composed finish.

Nottingham Forest scored just minutes later to take their lead up to three. Joe Worrall scored from James Garner’s corner in the 32nd minute. Kelechi Iheanacho did pull one goal back for Leicester City near the end of the first half.

The foxes changed their formation at the start of the second half but it was of no real use as Djed Spence put Nottingham Forest three goals up again in the 62nd minute. The hosts missed several half-chances toward the end of the game. But Nottingham book their place in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

Leicester City player ratings

Danny Ward 4

Looked underconfident and made some poor decisions. He did make a couple of good saves but was left helpless by his defence for most of the goals.

James Justin 3

Misplaced a lot of passes and looked quite unfit. He also lost a crucial header that lead to Forest’s first goal.

Daniel Amartey 2

Gave the ball away with a horrible back pass leading to the third goal for Forest. Just like his centre-half partner did have a good game at all.

Caglar Soyuncu 2

Syunchu could not cope with Johnson’s runs in behind. The centre-half looked shot on confidence.

Luke Thomas 4

Made some good passes into the opposition box but just like most of the Leicester team, struggled to keep with the attacks from Forest.

Wilfred Ndidi 3

Gave the ball away too cheaply at times and did not look assured at all in the middle of the park.

Youri Tielemans 3

Just like Ndidi, Tielemans kept losing possession and was very sloppy with his passing. Was rightfully substituted in the second half.

James Maddison 5

Set up the Kelechi Iheanacho goal and tried to make things happen but got no real support from his teammates.

Ademola Lookman 2

The winger had no impact on proceedings and regularly lost possession in the final third.

Harvey Barnes 5

Looked dangerous at the start of the game but fell off as the half progressed. He was taken off at halftime.

Kelechi Iheanacho 5

The striker showed some good touches and took his goal well. But got no real service from his teammates.
