Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax. The player is desperate for a move to the Premier League to develop his career.

However, Ajax have been reluctant to negotiate sometimes. Some reports also indicate that they were anticipating a bidding war for the defender.

The Argentinian has been the center of transfer speculation throughout the transfer window. According to reports, Arsenal and Manchester United were battling it out for the center-back. However, Lisandro Martinez has rejected approaches from Arsenal. There were also reports that the North London club also pulled out from the race to avoid a bidding war.

Since then, United have been in the driving seat to complete the transfer. However, the club themselves had two bids rejected by Ajax. Although, Lisandro Martinez and his agent are pushing the Dutch club to negotiate a realistic price for him. The club has reportedly accepted his request. There have been multiple meetings between the officials of both clubs.

THE TRANSFER IS GETTING CLOSER

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano the transfer is imminent. The report also states the clubs are close to finding an agreement. It also states that United are hopeful of sealing the deal in the next 24 to 48 hours. The player has already agreed personal terms. Lisandro Martinez has decided on Manchester United as his new club. The player is very excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

The two clubs are close to agreeing on a fee in excess of €50m (£42.3m) ahead of the final round of talks. He also expects to be able to do a medical in a day or two. Erik Ten Hag expects him and Eriksen to join the club in a few days. Manchester United are also hoping to convince Frenkie De Jong to join the club. They are also looking at Ajax winger Antony. Ten Hag sees Antony as the answer to the right-wing position.

The deal will see Martinez depart Ajax after three years. He made 118 appearances in all competitions. Lisandro can also play left-back and a defensive midfielder. However, Ten Hag expects him to play as a center-back.
