Liverpool is looking for a new midfielder, just not Cheick Doucoure

Liverpool

Despite recent news, Cheick Doucoure will not be joining Liverpool any time soon as the club tries its luck elsewhere.

The Reds made some decent additions in the beginning of the window. But these additions were few and far between, with only three notable ones this season.

And with the transfer window coming to an end, the club still has some issues to manage. Liverpool planned on replacing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson with Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. However the club failed in both instances as the two opted for Chelsea instead.

The Reds were able to fill the gap using Wataru Endo. Still, the team needs more than a single addition to make up for the two lost defenders.

As such, the club made several inquiries on defensive midfielders. One of the players heavily associated with the move as of late was none other than Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure.

The chance to see Cheick Doucoure as a Liverpool player

Despite the club’s dire need for a defender, Cheick Doucoure will not be wearing red any time soon.

Crystal Palace made it very clear that the player will not be making a move. As seen by the ridiculous asking price of £70 million, which no club will be spending this late into the transfer window.

Even as the window nears its closing hours, Liverpool made the decision to find a new defender elsewhere.

And find one they did. As Klopp recently announced that Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch has now agreed to personal terms. The club has attempted and failed to acquire the player before. But after further negotiations, the player is more than willing to make the move.

The defender’s price is £35 million, half of Doucoure’s price, making him a better substitute in every single way.
