Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a fresh injury blow for Alex Oxlade Chamberlin. The manager has confirmed a hamstring for the midfielder during a 2-0 friendly win against Crystal Palace.

However, the timeline of the injury is yet to be known. Although, if it is a hamstring injury, it is likely to be a long-term injury for the former Arsenal midfielder.

ALEX OXLADE CHAMBERLIN INJURY PROBLEMS IN RECENT YEARS

In recent years, the England midfielder has had worse injury problems. The problems have led to him missing a number of games. However, the injuries have also affected his form. He is not able to replicate the great form of his debut season. Although, Klopp has shown his faith in the midfielder. He said, ” “I don’t know exactly how long it will take. But he’ll come back and it will be all fine. He’s a top-class player who can help us.”

However, Klopp has said Alex Oxlade Chamberlin is still in the plans for the season. This statement comes amid using him for a limited couple of minutes last season. He has also been linked with a move away a number of times. Newcastle and West Ham United have shown interest in Alex Oxlade Chamberlin. However, no club has still put a bid in for the midfielder. Although, the interest of Liverpool in Jude Bellingham will push him closer to the exit door.

THE MIDFIELDER IS NOT THE ONLY INJURY CONCERN

However, it seems Oxlade Chamberlin is not the only injury concern. Diogo Jota and Alisson have suffered injuries. They were the notable absentees from the friendly game in Singapore. However, Klopp claimed that Alisson could be back in time for the Community Shield game against Manchester City. Although, that seems unlikely for Diogo Jota and Chamberlin.

The midfielder has got sporadic minutes on the pitch. Injuries and his bad form have kept him on the fringes of the first-team action. He is expected to play a role on the bench when he returns from his injury. The manager cannot trust him during intense periods of the match. This makes the former Southampton midfielder a very dodgy option.

It remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp gives him more minutes than the last season. However, the player also has to focus on his hamstring to help him play games in a much better body shape and play more games this season.
