After a long and gruelling series of negotiations, Liverpool has made some advancements when it comes to obtaining Ryan Gravenberch.
The Reds barely made any changes this transfer window, with only three recorded new players. The midfield especially is quite frail at the moment, As both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left the club. The two players are now trying their luck at the middle eastern league.
This would not have been an issue if a replacement was readily available, however this was not the case. As the expected replacements, Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, both chose Chelsea over the Reds.
The club also tried recruiting Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure, but to no avail. As the owners demanded no less than £70 million for the player.
And with other options still available, the club made no effort inquiring about Doucoure once the price became public.
Liverpool signing Ryan Gravenberch
The reds have already failed at signing the Bayern Munich player before. Liverpool approached with a £42 million offer that got rejected. Which is somewhat confusing considering the fact that the new current offer is a simple £35 million.
Nevertheless, the club manager Jürgen Klopp convinced the player as recent reports claim the club agreed to the 21 year old’s personal terms.
The young man will no doubt be of great value to the club, which is in dire need for some defensive depth. The player is quite exceptional in a vacuum, and with the pressure he will be relieving off of Wataru Endo, his usefulness will be even greater.
Still, it is important to remember that the contract is still not signed, and changes can occur at any moment. As Chesea’s Michael Olise have made it quite clear that only at arrival that the matter is disclosed.
