Man City considering a bold move to sign Reece James

Manchester City

Football Transfers claims that despite Kyle Walker agreeing to a new deal that runs until June 2026, Man City is still interested in making a bold bid for Chelsea right-back Reece James.

This summer, the England international was promoted to the position of captain for Chelsea. However, a hamstring injury has kept him out of action since the second gameweek. James’s return to action is imminent, but media rumours over his long-term future at Chelsea persist.

According to Football Transfers, the 23-year-old was the subject of negotiations between Man City and Chelsea over the summer. Walker has extended his deal with the defending Premier League winners. But this won’t have any bearing on City’s ambitious intentions to lure Reece James away from Stamford Bridge.

The player’s injury problems, according to Football Transfers, could lead Chelsea to accept a sizable fee even though Chelsea is not evaluating the prospect of a sale. In the meantime, the player’s situation at Chelsea is no longer certain. If Chelsea miss out on the Champions League for the upcoming season, Reece James may think about leaving.

Chelsea selling Reece James to Man City can be a possibility

Chelsea sold a number of well-known players throughout the summer. This includes the key players in their last season’s strategy, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount. Mount was a crucial member of the team, but the midfielder left for Manchester United after declining a new deal.

James has been named the permanent captain, but it is still possible that he will leave in the future. The right back has had a difficult time staying healthy in Chelsea. The fact that he strikes the right balance between attack and defence, makes him one of the best players in the Premier League when he is healthy.

Despite completing an unprecedented treble last season, which included their first Champions League title, Man City has continued to display a lot of desire in the transfer market. They invested more than £200 million in new hires. Man City would be willing to pay a hefty transfer fee if James gives the go-ahead for them to depart Chelsea. Even though Transfermarkt values the full-back at £56 million, Chelsea may not release him without a nine-figure transfer fee.
