Mateo Kovacic Liverpool

After a remarkable 2022-23 season that saw Manchester City clinch the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League titles, the club is preparing for some significant roster changes. Key players, including Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Kyle Walker, may be leaving. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster the City midfield with the potential acquisition of Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Mateo Kovacic Transfer Deal Almost Finalized

Manchester City’s pursuit of Mateo Kovacic is reportedly inching closer to fruition. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club has offered £21.3 million to Chelsea for the Croatian midfielder. There’s a chance of an extra £5 million based on the team’s future success. Negotiations are still taking place. However, Manchester City needs to pay at least £25.6 million to sign Kovacic from Chelsea. However, Manchester City have reportedly already agreed on personal terms, and the deal is almost done.

Mateo Kovacic’s playing style and skill set make him an ideal fit for Manchester City’s system. The 29-year-old midfielder possesses exceptional technical abilities and defensive prowess, aligning perfectly with Pep Guardiola’s vision. Known for his exceptional ball control and tackling prowess, Kovacic’s arrival could provide a seamless transition, potentially replacing the outgoing Gundogan or Silva. Moreover, his talents would thrive in a possession-based style of play, bringing out the best version of himself.

Kyle Walker’s Uncertain Future

Despite interest from Bayern Munich, Kyle Walker could extend his contract with Manchester City. While Bayern’s interest remains concrete, there is still a possibility of Walker staying with the English club. Ongoing negotiations aim to find a suitable agreement between the parties involved. However, the German club is reportedly working towards finalizing the deal in the coming days, offering up to €30 million for the services of the talented veteran full-back.
