Manchester City may have just taken on a big step in talks to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton according to reports. The left-back is one of the two priority signings of Pep Guardiola.
BIG SUMMER EXPECTED AT MANCHESTER CITY
The Premier League champions are now gearing up to defend their domestic crown yet again. This is after a whirlwind finish to the 2021/22 campaign. Three goals in five minutes late on the final day secured City their fourth title in five seasons. It’s safe to say Pep has set the standard.
However, a real summer of change is possible at Etihad. It is due to a number of first-team stars linked with a potential exit. In terms of incoming both Leeds United’s Kalvin Philips and Marc Cucurella are believed to be top targets for City
WHY DOES PEP WANT MARC CUCURELLA?
According to reports, a major update has come to light on City’s chase for Marc Cucurella. The report states that Cucurella has now accepted the Sky Blues contract offer on personal terms. Although the valuation with Brighton is not agreed yet, the Premier League Champions believe they are very near in talks to finalize a fee.
At still just 23 years old, the Spaniard is the ideal candidate to shore up their flank. He comes with a long shelf life and he enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at the Amex stadium. As per statistics, Marc Cucurella finished 21/22 as their second-best performing regular behind Yves Bissouma. He even managed the second-highest rate of tackles and third best-number of key passes.
It is clear the left-back is a real all-rounder. He has also been called unbelievable going forward and at the back. The stats also prove why Pep is so desperate to sign him for Manchester City and to improve their defense.
