Manchester United have reportedly cooled their pursuit of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. According to Metro, at the moment Chelsea are leading the race to sign Declan Rice.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking for Declan Rice alternatives. United officials are not convinced that Declan Rice is what their squad need at the moment. Moreover, West Ham values Declan Rice at over £100m, and United believe that they can find a player just as good for a cheaper price.

Manchester United are saving up for a big-money move for Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. Solskjaer a big fan of the 22-year-old West Ham midfielder but are still in a dilemma if Rice can take the team to another level.

Moreover Manchester United fear that Rice is more likely to replicate rather than complement academy graduate Scott McTominay. United have made some massive signings those summer with the likes of  Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane. But there are a few more signings that United need to make to compete at the best level. United are willing to bring a new defensive midfielder next summer.

If not Declan Rice who is on Manchester United shopping list?

United are looking to sign a Non-Premier League player in the midfield. Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma. The Malian midfielder has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League and also claiming to be the best midfielder in the Premier League.

Manchester United are looking for a player who possesses the same qualities as Matic. They need a proper defensive midfielder that can sit back and protect the back four. Declan Rice is transitioning into a role that Yaya Toure played at Manchester City. Meanwhile if United are to sign a player outside of the Premier League it should be Teun Koopmeiners who plays in Serie A club Atalanta. The Dutchman is arguably the most suited for United’s needs.
