Chelsea could finally solve their striker problems come summer. What’s more astonishing that they could get it for free. Chelsea’s problems with a number-9 are not unknown and have cursed the club. However, finally, the club could get a player who can put the ball in the back of the net regularly. Moreover, incoming Chelsea owners could be blessed with the next ‘Drogba’ for free.

Chelsea loanee Armando Broja is the answer to Chelsea’s woes. The 20-year-old is immensely impressive at Southampton on loan from Chelsea. His qualities have further earned him the label of the next ‘Didier Drogba’ as well. Thomas Tuchel too has admired Broja’s work and it seems the youngster could find himself playing for Chelsea next season. While Chelsea fans were waiting to see what the new owners bring to the table to solve striker problems, Broja has done the job.

Chelsea is blessed with the next ‘Drogba’ coming through the academy

Broja has done a great job at Southampton so far this season. The Albanian international has scored 9 goals for the Saints in 32 games till now. His work rate has to be commendable, irrespective of the numbers he has put on. Broja came through the youth ranks of Chelsea and was loaned to Southampton for earning more minutes at the senior level. The youngster further posts 1.3 shots and 1 successful dribble per game. His aerial presence is crucial as well, with Broja winning 2.5 aerial duels per game.

No doubt the Chelsea graduate’s potential has earned him the label of the next ‘Drogba‘. Broja has achieved another feat, which could excite the new Chelsea owners. The striker was ranked 13th on the list of Europe’s best performing under-21 outfield talents from this season by the International Centre for Sports Studies. Among his fellow premier league mates, Broja ranks 4th only behind Bukayo Saka, Mason Greenwood, and Michael Olise. But it is quite remarkable that he has pipped stars such as Jude Bellingham, Gabriel Martinelli, Jamal Musiala, Nuno Mendes, and many more. There’s a lot of expectation from Broja, like Drogba at Chelsea, could be the dawn of the new era.

Many clubs tracking the exciting young talent

However, Chelsea should be alert as many clubs want their next Drogba. You have to put every step right when you have such a wonderful kid at your disposal. This should matter more to Chelsea since they have mishandled many of their bright minds. Mohamed Salah, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku are just a few names. The Blues’ had to spend a massive £101 million to bring back Lukaku who they sold in 2014. The striker then scored 193 goals across stints at three different clubs.

As Broja is wanted by many, Chelsea are considering his future as well. Though undecided, Chelsea have still put a price tag of £50 million on Broja. Tuchel is ready to hand in Broja a chance at Chelsea, but if a suitor comes with the desired fee, the answer could well be a yes. This is where the new owners have to step up. They have to make sure that Armando Broja gets the opportunity he deserves with the Londoners. Southampton are doing everything possible to make his move permanent, whereas Arsenal and West Ham are in line as well.

Both Lukaku and Werner were big-money moves and unfortunately didn’t deliver. Broja is an academy product and would not cost a penny to the club. The new owners should avoid another financial stunt and develop Broja at the club. If he has the potential of donning the cape of Drogba at Chelsea, the club could benefit massively. If not, a sale is always an option where the Blues excel as well.
