Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing left-back Adria Pedrosa. The defender plays for Espanyol.

However, the La Liga club want to keep the player. Although, the speculations around his future are going to keep raising till he signs a new contract.

NEWCASTLE UNITED AND ADRIA PEDROSA TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to reports, the Magpies want to secure the services of the left-back. The report also adds that the defender would cost as little as £6.75million. Brighton are also monitoring his situation at Espanyol. A little fee for such a talented full-back is a bargain for many clubs. However, if one thinks logically Newcastle does not need another left-back at the club.

The club has already made 3 defensive signings this window. These three signings include the permanent signing of former loanee left-back Matt Target from Aston Villa. However, you never know if the interest might be genuine. Although from the recent comments of Eddie Howe, there are very less chances that Newcastle United will make a defensive signing this window.

THE MAGPIES DO NOT NEED TO SIGN ADRIA PEDROSA

Eddie Howe has said in many press conferences that he wants to make attacking additions this window. Newcastle United are reportedly targeting a new striker and a new right winger before the window ends. Another problem is the club has already three left-backs at the club. Matt Target is the first choice. Whereas Jamal Lewis and Paul Dummett are going to cover if he gets injured.

However, the reported interest of Brighton makes sense. They really do need a left-back. Brighton have just sold Marc Cucurella to Chelsea for big money. So, they will have to replace him. The club also has money to play with Chelsea reportedly paying them £62million. Hence, the interest of Brighton looks more genuine than the Magpies.

Newcastle United are expected to make more signings this summer. However, every fan will be surprised if they sign another defensive option. The Magpies till now have completed the signings of Matt Target, Nick Pope, and Sven Botman. They also beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in their first match this season.
