Tavares: 6 Goals in 31 Games, Yet Criticisms Cloud the Path

Nuno Tavares finds himself at a crossroads in his Arsenal career, with a clear lack of involvement in Mikel Arteta’s strategic plans following his return from a loan spell at Marseille. The Portuguese showcased his skills and contributed with six goals in 31 league games during his time in France. However, Tavares faced further criticism for his attitude.

The Portuguese left-back’s availability for transfer this summer has garnered interest from multiple clubs. Notably, Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen as well as, West Ham are all eager to secure his signature. Arsenal has indicated a willingness to part ways with Tavares, setting a reduced asking price of around £13 million.

While West Ham United initially displayed interest in Nuno Tavares, their pursuit seems to have cooled off, potentially creating a window of opportunity for Nottingham Forest to make a move. Speculations have linked West Ham to Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

Arsenal’s proactive approach to restructure their squad is evident as they engage in talks regarding Nuno Tavares’ potential departure. Tavares arrived from SL Benfica in 2021 for £8 million. Arsenal now looks to offload him for a modest profit to maintain a leaner squad composition. Furthermore, this decision is part of Arsenal’s broader strategy to refine their roster.
