ASTON VILLA

Ollie Watkins move claims dropped by reporter Alex Crook

There has been a gripping update regarding the future of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins ahead of the transfer window.

While sharing his thoughts to GIVEMESPORT, the talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook revealed that Aston Villa won’t part with the Englishman. The London club West Ham United registered interest in Ollie Watkins as they plan to bolster their attack under David Moyes ahead of the next campaign.

The transfer insider claimed that the Midlands club have no intention of selling the forward. Also to prioritize other signings they won’t even sign any centre forwards too. Crook said:

“They’re reasonably well-stocked, aren’t they? They’ve got Ollie Watkins and they’ve got Danny Ings, and they didn’t really seem to find the right solution to get them both into the team. I know West Ham have got an interest in Ollie Watkins, but Villa have no plans to sell him. I don’t know if they’ll go for that superstar striker. But I think that central midfield area is more of a priority.”

Watkins situation

Rumours stated that Villa boss Steven Gerrard wanted to bring his former teammate Luis Suarez to the club. Other than that, there’s also rumour that the Midlands club could let Ollie Watkins’ strike partner Danny Ings go.

The 26 year old centre forward has been quite instrumental for the Villa Park outfit for the last 2 seasons. Since making the switch from Brentford, the England international scored 25 goals and assisted for 7 goals in Premier League.

In the recently concluded campaign, Watkins managed to score 11, finishing ahead of Ings as the club’s top goalscorer. It is not only his goalscoring abilities that make him special. The £44k-per-week player can be a matter of headache for any defence line as he loves to press them down with his tremendous pace.
