Pundit hints Aston Villa to part ways with Morgan Sanson after ‘storming off’

Aston Villa

Football pundit Kevin Phillips has tipped Aston Villa to let go of Morgan Sanson while speaking to Football Insider. The 27-year-old midfielder stormed off the pitch as he was substituted against Manchester United. Since then, he hasn’t featured for Villa, however, he has apologized for his actions. Phillips has backed Gerrard’s ability to take big decisions and not playing Sanson could be one.

Phillips highlighted that Gerrard let Matt Target go who was the player of the season last year. Aston Villa signed Lucas Digne and that was enough to satisfy Steven Gerrard. The former Liverpool midfielder knows what is right for his team and is not afraid to take the big steps in order to improve his club.

Morgan Sanson has appeared just 7 times for Aston Villa this season. He was signed in January 2021 and has a contract till the summer of 2025. Villa can also get a good amount for the player as he has some years left on his contract. Moreover, Villa now have the power to get new players and have already made some good recruitments.

The club will look for options if a player is not starting for the club and also storming off the pitch. In addition, the club can now afford better quality on the pitch due to which the player’s future at the club is threatened. However, the player has made it clear that it was a reaction on his part and has apologized for his actions.

Why Aston Villa should give Morgan Sanson another chance?

Such storming off after being substituted is not the first time that has happened in football. Villa were losing 2-0 before Sanson came off and frustration got the better of Sanson at that moment. Players are also humans and these things have happened to the best of the players.

There’s no denying that Morgan Sanson has the quality to start for Aston Villa but he hasn’t since he stormed off. Moreover, to be fair, he also hasn’t been in the best form of his life. His three-word message of ‘Never give up’ on Instagram shows that he still wants to fight for a place on the lineup for Aston Villa.

If Villa parts ways with Sanson then there would be another question of replacing the player. Villa will be already facing tough competition from big teams and might find it difficult to replace their players. However, Sanson has to prove himself before getting a chance which solely depends on the player.

If Aston Villa and Morgan Sanson do part ways then it would be a heart-breaking move for the player as he is trying his best to return. However, if the move takes place with the consent of the player then that might be a better move as Sanson could also start fresh. Gerrard’s decision will be key to what happens next and this will also be his test as a manager in the top fight.
