Smriti Mandhana and her team haven’t done well in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) tournament. They lost two games in a row and are not doing well in the points table. But on Tuesday, March 7, they celebrated Holi and looked positive. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the team that Smriti Mandhana is leading, and they have had a hard time in the tournament so far. They lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 6 by nine wickets, and earlier on March 5, they lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by 60 runs.
Smriti informed her fans about her team’s Holi celebration by reposting a picture that was shared on her teammate Heather Knight’s Instagram stories. The photo shows Smriti, along with Richa Ghosh and Heather Knight, painted in colors. Smriti is the captain of the team.

RCB vs MI: match summary

During the second game of the WPL, RCB’s captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and chose to bat first. However, RCB’s batters struggled against MI’s bowlers and were all out for 155 in 18.4 overs. MI’s Hayley Matthews and Saika Ishaque did a great job of taking out RCB’s top-order batters.

Despite this, RCB managed to put up a respectable score with the help of their lower-order batters. However, Hayley Matthews was the star of the night as she both batted and bowled exceptionally well. She scored an impressive 77 runs off just 38 balls with a strike rate of 202.63, hitting 13 fours and a six. She also remained unbeaten.

As a result, Matthews was named the Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.
After her team’s disappointing performance, Mandhana spoke during the post-match comments and expressed that her team will not focus on the defeat. Instead, they will try to learn from the experience and take away some positive aspects to apply in the next game.

“It is a pretty short tournament and we can’t dwell on it. Even in franchise cricket if you start winning then you can go on a run.

added the RCB skipper.

The team’s next match is against Gujarat Giants on Wednesday, March 8. Like RCB, GG are also yet to win their first game in the tournament.
