Real Madrid are looking to trim their squad before the summer window ends. It has been a mixed summer so far for the Los Blancos.
They were tipped as heavy favourites to be Kylian Mbappe’s next club. The Frenchman had on many an occasion expressed his love for the club and stated how it was his dream to play for them. However, a change of heart at the last moment meant that the lethal striker stayed in Paris.
The insistence on Mbappe also meant that Real Madrid missed out on Erling Haaland. This caused disappointment to the fans. Despite this, they did sign stars like Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Real Madrid still does have one of the best, if not the best centre-forward in the world. It was only yesterday that Karim Benzema bagged the Men’s Player of the Year. Although he is ageing, Madrid fans can be assured that he will continue to perform till they can find a successor.
Real Madrid look to move on Mariano
On the topic of Real Madrid strikers, Mariano Diaz looks likely to be on his way out. He was the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic number 7 jersey. However, his impact at Madrid has been minimal.
The 29-year-old striker has been informed that Carlo Ancelotti’s plans do not include him and that he has been placed on the market for sale. However, he resisted leaving for the majority of the summer since he wanted to finish his current contract before it expired the following year.
Mariano’s position has recently changed though. He is now open to the idea of leaving Real Madrid, However, he wishes to stay in Spain and play for another La Liga club. Now, he has reportedly added a new requirement for his departure this summer, according to AS. According to the article, Mariano is reportedly only interested in leaving Real Madrid if they terminate his contract and allow him to do it for nothing.
Mariano has a high salary, and Real Madrid will be more than happy to get those off the books. However, they would ideally want a sum for selling him as well. As the window enters its final days, they will look to find a solution.
