Real Madrid reportedly offer £38m for this Leicester City defender

Leicester City centre back Caglar Soyuncu has reportedly been approached by Laliga giants Real Madrid.

Real’s interest in Soyuncu was known earlier this year. The Turkish defender has also been linked to Barcelona and Merseyside club Liverpool. As reported by a Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Real are set to proceed with their long-term interest by making an official bid for the player.

Soyuncu had a scintillating outing in the 2019-20 season which is when he caught the eye of the big clubs around the world. However, a drop in form last season, where he only made 19 appearances for the club-reportedly lowered the interest of the clubs. Injury to Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana has opened the doors for Soyuncu to perform.

The Leicester City defender reportedly wants to stay in England

The talks for Soyuncu’s future are expected to start as the 25-year-old runs out of contract, next summer.

This should be City’s last chance to bid for the player. As he will be out of contract next season he could easily sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign side in January.

However, recently Soyuncu was heard voicing his desire to stay back in England and play.

He says,

” Everything is going well right now and I’m happy to be playing. I am happy to play in the Premier League and I want to stay in England as long as I can – my contract continues”.

He is impressed with all the top players of the world playing in the Premier League. Moreover, he says he enjoys playing with these big stars of football.

“It’s very nice to play with top level players. I can be a better example to the young people after me, I can help more”.
