The Telegraph claim that United had rekindled their interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian has had admirers at Old Trafford for quite some time now.

According to Italian journalist Guillaume Maillard Pacin, United are currently planning a preliminary bid for the Milinkovic-Savic.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the consistent performers in Serie A for quite some time now. He has 58 goals and 51 assists in 294 games for Lazio over the past 7 years. He is an energetic presence in the middle of the park, with a lot of dynamism and technical ability in his repertoire.

With two years left on his contract, Lazio may be looking to cash in on Milinkovic-Savic. Unless he signs a new deal, many clubs can use his contract situation as leverage to get him on a cheap. Hence, the Rome outfit may be willing to sell him this summer.

Should United Pursue Milinkovic-Savic?

Manchester United should be all over him in such a scenario. The Red Devils do not have the best midfield options right now. Scott McTominay and Fred have often been criticized for not being up to the standard that United fans demand.

After the departures of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard, Erik Ten Hag made it clear that he wants a new marquee signing for his project. United have been pursuing Frenkie De Jong for the whole window, but it has not borne any fruit. The Dutch international is adamant about staying at Barcelona.

In addition, United are looking to finalize the Adrian Rabiot deal in the coming days. The addition of Milinkovic-Savic and Rabiot will surely be an upgrade over their current options, and the Old Trafford faithful will hope that they can help their club become competitive again.
