Tottenham Hotspur’s £100,000-per-week player is reportedly in talks to move to Atletico Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur

Midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham Hotspur is negotiating a loan move to Atletico Madrid before the transfer window ends.

The Daily Mail reports that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is presently debating a short-term move to Atletico.

Conor Gallagher of Chelsea may be able to join Tottenham as a result of Hojbjerg’s departure. According to the same source, the north London club is interested in the 23-year-old, but a deal is contingent on Hojbjerg’s future.

If Tottenham decides to sign Gallagher, the international player from England won’t be cheap. Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that Chelsea won’t begin to take notice of offers until they reach £50 million.

Mauricio Pochettino has so far used Gallagher frequently. On Wednesday, Gallagher started as captain as the Blues defeated AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur might loan out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg will most likely need to transfer from Tottenham to a different team, such as Atletico, if he wants to play regularly this season.

At this early point of his job, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou seems unlikely to rely heavily on the 28-year-old.

Hojbjerg did not play in Tottenham’s opening Premier League match of the new season against Brentford. Also, he only came off the bench in the two games that followed.

When his teammate recovers from injury, Rodrigo Bentancur will be another midfielder that the £100,000-a-week (Salary Sport) Denmark international will have to battle with. Postecoglou appears to prefer Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

All of that makes sense in light of Hojbjerg’s decision to switch from Tottenham to Atletico. It is also not an awful choice. In fact, some would even contend that Hojbjerg would be an improvement as Diego Simeone’s team won the La Liga championship in 2021. Atletico Madrid is also currently playing in the Champions League.

Overall, it may be best for everyone if the former Southampton player and Tottenham part ways, at least temporarily.
