West Ham are in the market for a new striker. According to reports, Moise Kean may be their man.
The forward is currently on loan in Juventus from Everton. The Turin giants have an obligation to buy him for 28 million in 2023. West Ham will, however, try to get a deal done before the Italian giants can activate the purchase clause.
Moise Kean is not a stranger to Premier League football. Everton purchased the Italian from Juventus in 2019 for 28 million Euros.
He had a very disappointing spell, however. He found it difficult to adjust, and only mustered 2 goals in nearly 30 appearances. There was also a famous instance when interim manager Duncan Ferguson subbed him in, only to take him off after some time. Something like that will hurt anyone, let alone a youngster in a new league.
Kean fought back though. He was loaned out to Paris Saint-Germain and enjoyed a fruitful time. He scored 13 goals in Ligue 1, and 3 in the Champions League. One of them was a goal against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in a 4-1 victory.
He was then loaned to his former club Juventus and contributed bits. It is important to remember that Kean is only 22, and can perform better if given more time and chances. And now it appears that a chance to prove his critics wrong has come.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Juve intends to sign Kean permanently before promptly selling him. Moise Kean is a target for West Ham in the summer transfer window. However, if Juventus use their buyout option from Everton on the 22-year-old first will determine the outcome.
Kean: A Good Signing?
The reported price quoted is around the region of 25 million. It can be a good punt for a talented player like Kean.
Michael Antonio seemed burnt out at the end of the season after a fabulous start, and could definitely use some rest and rotation. Kean can be a perfect addition to the squad in that case.
