EVERTON

Everton And Their Plans This Summer

Everton

Everton are at a decisive point right. They were almost relegated the previous season and only escaped by a whisker. A dramatic 3-2 win over Crystal Palace after going 2-0 down led to celebratory moods across the Goodinson, but the Toffees must be aware that a change in strategy is needed to put the club in the right direction.

They have not been shy about spending money. However, many of the big-money moves have not made the desired impact at Goodinson. Gylfi Sigurdson for 50 million, Alex Iwobi for 40 million, Yannick Bolasie, Michael Keane and Moise Keane for 30 million each have all failed to make their mark. The board must now realize that blindly throwing the money at the problem does not necessarily fix it.

Understanding this, manager Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell, the Director of Football are going to take a calculated approach this summer.

What’s In Store For Everton?

Everton firstly need to identify the positions they need reinforcements in. Center back seems to be a priority, especially with Yerry Mina considering his future. It seems that it has been taken care of, as The Toffees look to sign James Tarkowski on a free. The Englishman has good Premier League experience, is a leader and formed a brutish partnership with Ben Mee at Burnley. A shrewd signing.

Players who may find themselves out of the door include Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes, Tom Davies and Salomon Rondon. Frank Lampard clearly does not see them as a part of his plans.

With the departure of Fabian Delph, Lampard may also look for a ball-winning midfielder. Harry Winks of Tottenham is a name that has been mentioned.

Lastly, Lampard will look to tie down Everton’s two forwards. Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been approached by a number of clubs already. Everton will find it difficult to replace them.

Frank Lampard has proven his ability as a tactician with Derby. A top-four finish with Chelsea while working with a transfer ban was quite impressive too. He is a guy who knows how to work in difficult circumstances. With the right backing, he may be the one who takes Everton out of the stagnant stream they have been in since the last few seasons.
