The midfielder problems brought the name of Nico Gonzalez in one report. The report also mentioned Nico would be used in a player cash swap. The player swap will see Nico and some cash to Wolves and Neves to Barcelona. However, according to sources, the Catalan giants have decided to retain the services of the 20-year-old. The meeting is said to have taken place on Wednesday. It was attended by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, director of football Mateu Alemany and super-agent Jorge Mendes. Mendes wanted a new club for Nico. But Jorge commented, “They don’t want to sell Nico, even though we have offers for him. The meeting went very well.”. A loan switch is still a possibility for Nico.

GOOD NEWS FOR OTHER CLUBS

Barcelona had hoped to lower any transfer fee for Neves in part exchange. But Wolves are said to be only interested in Gonzalez. The development could be considered good news for other clubs interested. the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are still interested in the Wolves midfielder. These clubs also have the necessary finance to get the deal done. The news is Wolves are trying to recoup a fee of 70 million for the player. Neves still has two years remaining on his contract at Molineux. The asking fee might have to be reduced to facilitate the sale. This has to be done as Bruno Lage himself wants to generate funds to sign his targets. Whatever happens in the Neves situation, Nico for the moment is going to stay at Barcelona.
