Yerry Mina Contemplating Everton Future

It is reported that Everton defender Yerry Mina is contemplating his future at Goodison Park. He enters his final year of contract this summer, and the Toffees will be hoping that the Colombian defender can make a decision soon.

Mina made the switch to Merseyside from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2018, for a fee of around 30 million pounds. He has gone on to wear the shirt 91 times. Mina has been a bright spot during a rather dull period in the club’s history, and perhaps he may be looking elsewhere to further his career.

His former agent recently said that Yerry Mina always wanted to play in Italy. Talks took place between the player and Inter Milan, but a move never materialized. The defender will have plenty of suitors this summer, and he can decide his future appropriately.

Should Everton Be Worried?

The Toffees had a brief upturn towards the end of the season. They managed to stay in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth. Now with a full pre-season, Frank Lampard can get the ball rolling and implement his ideas. He has shown his prowess in working with young talents at Chelsea, and can do the same by ushering in a new era at Everton.

As such, Mina can be one of the main players in the rebuilt side. Everton have plenty of talented players at their disposal, and there is no reason to believe that with proper management they cannot reach the top half of the table.

Should Mina run down his contract though, it would be a problem for Everton. Losing a player on a free is the last thing they would want at this moment. They are in a period of transition right now, and would ideally want to keep their good players. And if not, they certainly would want to raise money through sales to invest it in other parts of the pitch.
