Arsenal announce the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. The Brazilian forward has signed a five-year contract for a £45m fee.

The forward was set to leave Man City as he had only one year left on his contract. He was the main transfer target this summer for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

The 25-year-old becomes the Gunners’ fourth arrival of the summer transfer window. He follows Marquinhos, Fabio Viera, and Matt Turner to the Emirates for the new season. Although, the forward was on the radar of likes of Tottenham and Chelsea. However, the Gunners managed to beat off the competition. Mikel Arteta has already worked with the Brazilian as the assistant manager at Manchester City.

The player conducted his media duties inside Emirates last week. However, his images in the Arsenal were leaked before the official announcement. The forward has reportedly signed a contract in the region of £220,000 per week. This makes him the highest-paid player for the 2022-23 season. However, the player is worth the salary as he has won many titles at Manchester City.

THE MANAGER AND THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE ACQUISITION

Arsenal’s technical director Edu Garcia has expressed his happiness after signing the forward. “We are delighted that we have secured the transfer of Gabriel. Everyone who knows football well knows the qualities of Gabriel Jesus.” Technical director Edu told the official Arsenal website.”We look forward to seeing him join up with his new teammates ahead of the new season. We all welcome Gabriel to Arsenal.”

Manager Mikel Arteta added “I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature. I know Gabriel personally very well. We all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here.

Jesus has scored 95 goals and provided 46 assists in 236 appearances. He arrived at Man City in 2017. Jesus is going to link up with his new teammates for the pre-season training later this month. Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on August 5. However, his home debut is to come against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup.
