Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. The Italian midfielder is yet to sign a new contract.
His contract is going to expire next summer with the Premier League giants. Hence, the La Liga side could sign him on a free transfer next summer.
BARCELONA AND JORGINHO TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY
According to reports, Barcelona are interested in signing Jorginho in the next summer transfer window. The midfielder has only one year left on his Chelsea contract. Hence, there are chances the La Liga side could snap him for a free transfer. Jorginho will be allowed to negotiate a free transfer with foreign league teams in the January transfer window.
Arsenal were also linked with the midfielder in this summer transfer window. However, they decided to sign Fabio Viera from Porto. Chelsea have also not made much progress in negotiations for a new contract for the midfielder. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also said the club might try for new midfielders. He said,
” It’s important to understand what’s gonna happen with Kante and Jorginho’s contracts; I think they will focus on a new midfielder in 2023.
THE ITALIAN MIDFIELDER COULD BE A BRILLIANT SIGNING FOR THE CATALAN SIDE
Jorginho could actually be a brilliant signing for Barcelona. The midfielder is currently not doing well for Chelsea. However, everybody knows his technical abilities. Hence, Xavi might be the man to get the best out of him. The report also claims that Jorginho can be the direct replacement for Sergio Busquets. Busquets is reportedly going to leave the club next summer.
Hence, Barcelona will need a brilliant midfielder to replace Busquets. Therefore, a move for Jorginho would suit the player perfectly. This will also likely be his last chance to transfer to a European giant. Hence, it would be difficult for Jorginho to miss such a big opportunity. One needs to remember that the Italian midfielder is still at the peak of his career. However, he is yet to show his abilities for Chelsea.
Therefore, Barcelona needs to explore the signing of Jorginho. The midfielder signing will also make sense financially. At the moment, the La Liga side are short of money. Hence, getting a top midfielder on a free transfer would be hard to resist for Xavi&Co.
