Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering a move for Hellas Verona striker Giovanni Simeone. The forward is also keen on the move.
The clubs are also reportedly discussing the deal. The deal is said to be at advanced stages. However, the clubs are still struggling to agree on a fee for the striker.
WHY ARE BORUSSIA DORTMUND DESPERATE TO SIGN A STRIKER?
After Erling Haaland was sold to Manchester City, they signed Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller as replacements. However, a new problem has popped up for the club. Haller has suffered from a tumor. However, the chances of recovery are very good. Although, the problem is he will be sidelined with the problem for several months.
Hence, this has forced Dortmund to search for a short-term replacement till Haller comes to full fitness. The club is scouting a number of forwards. However, the name that keeps on popping up is Giovanni Simeone. The forward plays for Hellas Verona. However, the club are still accessing its options in the forward position.

According to reports, Borussia Dortmund are leading the race for Simeone’s signature. He had a brilliant season with Hellas Verona. This has attracted interest from the likes of Sevilla and Juventus. However, it seems the Bundesliga club have an upper hand in the deal. Although, the report also adds that Dortmund will have to make a substantial bid to sign the striker from Hellas Verona.
Another problem is if they sign Giovanni Simeone it will complicate the situation surrounding Youssoufa Moukoka’s contract extension. The other problem is if they spend a good amount of money on him, it will automatically reduce their budget for other positions. The final days of the transfer window will be very important for Borussia Dortmund to make a decision on the striker position problems.
It will also be interesting to see what sort of move the club makes. They also need to remember this decision will impact the club in the future when Haller returns to playing football after his recovery. For now, the club has two options, buy an experienced striker or trust the youth strikers at the club.
