Carney Chukwuemeka Faces Uncertain Future

Aston Villa appear to be preparing for the departure of Carney Chukwuemeka after contract negotiations hit a roadblock.

Journalist Gregg Evans says that Chukwuemeka, who only has a year left on his present contract, is now facing an unclear future at Villa Park. The 18-year-old was left out of the team’s tour of Australia.

Carney Chukwuemeka has not travelled to Australia with the #AVFC group. His Villa future is now in serious doubt. Contract talks have been ongoing since October but no agreement. Barcelona, among other clubs, are interested

Alarm bells will undoubtedly go off among Villa supporters with this news. It appears as though the team is preparing for life without Chukwuemeka in the near future. The expectation was that he would go on to become a key player in the coming years. If he is to leave, it will come as a real hammer blow.

The former Northampton Town prodigy has only had a brief flirtation with the first team, making 16 senior appearances for Villa so far. Manager Steven Gerrard has taken stock of the situation as well.

Carney (Chukwuemeka) is yet to sign a contract offer that’s been in place for some time now, so I’ve decided that the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.

What’s In Store For Chukwuemeka?

Chukwuemeka has been promising in all his appearances for the Midlands outfit so far. It is not a surprise to see so many clubs wanting to secure his signature. The list of suitors includes FC Barcelona. The young England international can join the host of other midfield proteges the Catalan giants have among their ranks.

Chukwuemeka may have been a player that Gerrard could build his team around in the upcoming years. If he decides to go for a new challenge soon, Villa will be frustrated and disappointed.
