Romelu Lukaku left Chelsea in 2014 and he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge once again. According to Sky Sports Inter are likely to accept a £110m bid from Chelsea. When the third bid came in Lukaku told his representatives that he is open to a move to London.

How did Chelsea manage to re-sign Romelu Lukaku?

After seeing three bids rejected by Inter Milan, the west London side is ready for another offer, this time in the region of £110m for the striker. Romelu Lukaku has already agreed on personal terms with Chelsea. Further, The Blues has offered Lukaku £12m a year.

Lukaku has established himself as one of the world’s best strikers since joining Inter from Manchester United back in 2019. He scored 30 goals last season in all competitions to help the San Siro giants clinch their first Serie A title in over a decade.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it is believed that Lukaku is one step away from joining the European Champions.

This report suggests that no player would be included in the deal. Chelsea had offered Marcos Alonso to Inter but it won’t happen now.

Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud left the club to join AC Milan on a permanent deal earlier this summer. Tammy Abraham has not featured for The Blues since Tuchel’s appointment. Kai Havertz has been forced to play a striking role as Timo Werner finds himself playing as a winger. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is desperate to sign a striker. Chelsea pursued Erling Haaland but it never seemed serious. It looks like Chelsea will end up signing Romelu Lukaku after all.

Lukaku’s replacement at Inter?

Several reports coming out of Itlay are suggesting that Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata will replace Lukaku.

According to Di Marzio, Atalanta will sell the Colombian only for a fee of £40m and once they’ve signed a replacement of their own.
