Cristiano Ronaldo snubbed by Real Madrid president

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo and poured cold water on any hopes of a reunion.

As his future is still up in the air, he missed the preseason and sat on the bench for the Premier League curtain raiser against Brighton. There are not a large number of sellers for him because of his age profile and high wages.

There were talks about Ronaldo joining Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. But it was not to be. A return to the Santiago Bernabeu was also discussed. However, Real Madrid did not feel the need for him after Karim Benzema and Vincius’ stellar campaign last season.

Ronaldo left the Los Blancos after a falling out with Perez. The pair have not been on the best of terms. During the time that Ronaldo was in Madrid, there were several instances when the Portuguese claimed that he did not feel properly treated by Perez.

After the Champions League win in 2018 against Liverpool, Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave. This was not taken well at all by Perez. The winger moved to Juventus soon after.

Now is not the time for individual issues. The club is more important than anyone. I am glad he has five European Cups, like me. The same thing is heard every summer. And then nothing happens

What did Perez say about Ronaldo?

The saga took a new turn when Perez gave a curt reply to a fan who asked him about the prospect of signing Cristiano Ronaldo. He simply replied: Cristiano? Again? At 38?

Ronaldo has been looking for a new club all summer. He was disappointed by Manchester United’s sixth-place finish last season, which meant the Red Devils had to play in the Europa League. Ronaldo apparently wants to play in the Champions League, and ideally, win another before he hangs up his boots.
