EVERTON

Everton Newcastle United, Six Sports

Newcastle United are preparing to make a formal bid to Everton to sign striker Dominic Calvert Lewin according to Telegraph.

The England international has spent much of the 2021-22 season out through multiple injuries. The Magpies are hoping to take advantage of his bad form this season and bring him to North-east. Although Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed he is not for sale. Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle is hoping that an offer from Newcastle could be enough to change the minds of Everton owners.

THE EVERTON AND NEWCASTLE SITUATION – TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS

Everton are currently playing dangerously with Fairplay rules (FFP). The reason of the problem is, that the club have sometimes overspent on transfers. Everton also have a stadium renovation, which has altogether raised some financial issues.

Newcastle who were taken over in November are now the richest club in the world. Transfer experts expect Newcastle to spend big in the summer. However, Calvert Lewin could be one of those they bring to St. James Park.

At the moment, Newcastle are only monitoring the situation. Though a bid from Newcastle United is expected to arrive before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

THE OPINION OF FANS.

The view from Everton fans after this news is to rinse them for more money. Everybody knows Newcastle United has the deepest pockets in Premier League. The toon can afford almost any price, Everton puts on the England striker.

Because in a few years Everton fans expect Newcastle United to overtake them in ambition. So there will be fewer chances Newcastle might be interested in Everton players in the future. The view of Newcastle fans is they do not want Calvert Lewin as he is injury prone and might just play well this season to get into the World Cup squad this summer in Qatar.

The view from Everton’s side is realistic. The club knows, he won’t hang around a side-slipping further down the table. So if an ambitious club like Newcastle United comes with an offer that sees him playing week in and week out and makes him financially richer, he will definitely ask to leave. Everton also if they sell the striker in the summer, they have to act fast to replace him.
