Frank Lampard recently spoke about his new signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Conor Coady.
Lampard was full of praise for Coady and hailed the English centre-back’s leadership skills. Coady was the captain at Molineux and recently moved to Everton on a season-long loan.
The Everton manager acknowledged that Coady is the type of player he needs to set the standards in place behind the scenes. He emphasised that once they began talking before the move, it didn’t take him long to realise that he needed the defender.
It’s a big thing leadership in any dressing room. Relying on players to drive home the message. James [Tarkowski] has shown his personality. It took me five minutes to speak to Conor [Coady] to see the type of person he is and I knew it before the call if I’m honest.

Expectations For Lampard This Season
Everton had a close tryst with relegation last season. The Toffees will hope that something like that is not repeated. They will hope that they can build a solid competitive squad to finish in the upper half of the Premier League this time around.
Lampard was appointed at the beginning of the year following a poor spell under Rafa Benitez. He signed Dele Alli and Donny Van De Beek on loan, which turned out to be just enough to keep Everton above the relegation zone. They remained in the top flight on their penultimate game, following a 3-2 win against Crystal Palace.
However, this season has started badly for them again. Following a 1-0 loss to Chelsea, they lost the centre-back duo of Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina to lengthy injuries. Richarlison has departed for Tottenham, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the sidelines as well.
Lampard has an uphill task ahead of him. Coady is a shrewd signing, and can certainly add some steel and leadership to the Everton backline.
