FRENKIE DE JONG AND MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER SAGA FULL STORY

Barcelona initially resisted Man United’s attempts to prise the midfielder away from the Nou Camp. Joan Laporta insisted the midfielder was not for sale. However, the Red Devils have now agreed a £72m deal to bring De Jong to the Premier League. Although, agreeing on personal terms is still challenging. The Dutch midfielder has referred to Barcelona as his dream club. It was also previously understood that he had no intention to leave Camp Nou.

However, some reports claimed that Frenkie De Jong was pushed to the exit door by the owners of the Catalan club. The reports also states that Barca are determined to balance their books. Frenkie De Jong is being pushed by the club to accept the offer of Manchester United. Although, it seems some reports are telling a whole different story on the move.

THE MIDFIELDER IS REPORTEDLY STILL OPEN TO THE MOVE

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, De Jong public stance differs from his private feelings. The player in fact is open to a switch to the Red Devils this summer. De Jong is supposedly owed as much as £17m by Barcelona in deferred wages. The report also claims that his agent Ali Dursan is employing a specific strategy to obtain the full payment of the wages.

The report adds the team does not want to go public with De Jong’s initiative to join United. This may weaken their position in negotiations with Barcelona over unpaid money. Manchester United are also open to pay him some of the deferred wages. However, they are unable to do it due to FIFA and UEFA guidelines. De Jong is reportedly on £320,000 per week at Camp Nou.

The Red Devils have already confirmed the signings of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez. Ten Hag and De Jong are also in constant dialogue over the transfer. They both are willing to wait until the end of the window to seal the deal.
