Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. The signing was confirmed by the club after they defeated Melbourne Victory in a pre-season friendly.

The Danish midfielder becomes the second signing of United in this transfer window. Tyrell Malacia was the first signing. However, the club are expected to make more signings.

The Denmark international has penned a three-year contract. Christian Eriksen says that he has major ambitions in the game. The player intends to achieve his ambitions with Manchester United. He also said that this is the perfect place to continue his injury. However, the midfielder is aware of the challenges the club is facing at the moment.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Christian Eriksen said: “Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling. The player’s career could have been over due to cardiac arrest before 12 months of this move.

UNITED HAVE FINALLY GOT THEIR MAN

After his cardiac arrest, Christian Eriksen was fit with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. However, the regulations in Serie A prevented him from playing for Inter Milan. The release from Milan led to him joining Brentford for the second half of the 2021-22 season. He played there fantastically and helped the club avoid relegation.

The Bees hoped to retain the services of the midfielder. Tottenham had also shown interest in his services. Eriksen is a welcome addition to a creative position after the departures of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard. He contributed 1 goal and 4 assists in 11 matches for Brentford which clearly states he has not lost his technical ability.

Although, Eriksen is not the only signing this weekend. A deal for Lisandro Martinez with Ajax is close to completion. The defender is going to fly to Manchester to complete his move. Manchester United also remains hopeful of agreeing personal terms with Frenkie De Jong after agreeing a fee with Barcelona.
