Joe Rodon is reportedly going to go out on loan to Rennes from Tottenham Hotspur. Nottingham Forest were also linked with the center-back.

The defender has failed to perform Spurs. Hence, he fell out of favor under Antonio Conte. Playing at the Ligue 1 club regularly will help his chances in the starting lineup in the World Cup team for Wales.

JOE RODON STRUGGLES AT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR AND RENNES TRANSFER SAGA FULL STORY

According to Fabrizio Romano, Joe Rodon is set to join Rennes on a season-long loan. The deal is also set to include a £20 million buy option. The center-back will be allowed to leave after failing to impress Antonio Conte. Joe Rodon’s career at Tottenham Hotspur has also included unfortunate injuries while he was performing well. The center-back has failed to cement his spot in the starting 11.

The Wales international cannot afford to be on the bench. He has the World Cup to think about that starts in November. He is a regular starter for his national team. Hence, if he plays on the bench for Tottenham, it will hurt his chances to be in the playing 11 for the Welsh national team. Hence, he is joining Ligue 1 club Rennes on a season-long loan for regular game time.

JOE RODON AND NOTTINGHAM FOREST TRANSFER LINKS

Nottingham Forest will be keeping an eye on his development at Rennes. If they managed to stay clear of relegation, Forest might make a move for him next season. However, Rennes will lead the race for him if he impresses them. Joe Rodon was always going to be on the shortlist of Forest following their promotion back to the Premier League.

The defender played his best football under current Forest manager Steve Cooper when they were both at Swansea. However, after impressing he joined Tottenham Hotspur. In February 2020, Steve Copper called him one of the best center-backs in the Championship. He also labeled him fantastic for his performances. However, Forest should be okay despite missing Rodon.

The Reds have also strengthened their central defensive ranks well this summer. They have Niakhate from Mainz. However, he can also play left-wing back. Hence, it looks like all the interested parties in the deal have got what they wanted. Forest bought Niakhate, Joe Rodon will get regular game time at Renne and Tottenham will get his wages off the financial books.
