Modric was critical in each of their following 3 UEFA Champions League triumphs under Zinedine Zidane. He also went on to break the Cristiano RonaldoLionel Messi duopoly in the Ballon d’Or awards.

Despite his age, the Croatian continues to dazzle on the pitch and remains an integral part of the Real Madrid setup. However, his contract is set for expiry in 2022 and the Citizens are waiting to lure him back to England.

The veteran midfielder has made 392 appearances for Los Blancos, bagging 28 goals and 62 assists. He has added 4 Champions League trophies, 2 La Liga titles and 1 Copa del Rey to his cabinet of honours.
