Cristiano Ronaldo announced that he was leaving Juventus on Friday. There were not many clubs interested in signing him. Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offered him to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi completely ruled out the signing of Ronaldo. Soon Manchester City were in advanced talks with Cristiano Ronaldo. After a few hours, Manchester United started negotiations with Ronaldo’s agent.

How did Manchester United sign Ronaldo?

Soon after Manchester United started showing interest in their former player City backed out of the race. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær was teasing the possibility of Ronaldo returning. The Portugal captain was keen to return to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Manchester City wanted to sign Harry Kane and saw two of their bids rejected by Tottenham. Earlier this week Harry Kane announced that he will be staying at Tottenham.

Since Manchester City wanted to sign a striker desperately they didn’t rule out the possibility of signing Ronaldo. But City were no willing to Juventus a fee for Ronaldo’s transfer. Juventus were looking for a fee of around £24 million to relieve him of his contract.

Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra along with several other United legends got in contact with Ronaldo over a potential move to the blue side of Manchester. Ronaldo also had conversations with Sir Alex Ferguson and Bruno Fernandes about his future.

When Ronaldo became aware that Manchester United wanted to sign him again he made it clear he wants to re-sign for them.  By early afternoon on Friday Manchester United completed negotiations with Juventus as well as Mendes. United have arranged a medical for Ronaldo in Lisbon.

Ronaldo fits in perfectly in United’s young attack. Solskjaer spoke about United lacking that cutting edge in attack after they drew against Southampton last weekend. Ronaldo will bring the little cutting edge that United are missing.
