Manchester United have reportedly ended their pursuit to sign Frenkie De Jong. They have reportedly accepted defeat in signing the midfielder.

However, the Dutch midfielder is expected to leave Barcelona before the window ends. Chelsea are now looking to sign the midfielder.

According to reports, United have finally accepted defeat. The report also states Manchester United and Barcelona had an agreement all summer. However, Frenkie De Jong has refused to accept personal terms with Red Devils. The player and his family are reportedly not comfortable with moving to Old Trafford. This is despite Erik Ten Hag having multiple chats with him

Another problem is the midfielder loves Barcelona. The player is refusing to leave the Catalan giants. However, the La Liga club want to sell him to balance their books and sign Bernardo Silva. Although, it seems like Chelsea have entered the race. The reports state that Frenkie De Jong is more open to a move to Chelsea than United.

THE RED DEVILS ARE ALREADY ASSESSING OTHER DIFFERENT OPTIONS

It looks like Manchester United are already assessing different options. The club are now looking at Adrien Rabiot and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. They have already seen an offer for Rabiot accepted by Juventus. Erik Ten Hag has already had a phone call with him. However, the club are yet to agree personal terms with the midfielder.

Whereas Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s situation is being monitored. The Red Devils are yet to make an offer for the midfielder. Lazio will reportedly demand a fee of around 60 million for the midfielder. They are also tracking the likes of Ruben Neves and Youri Tielemans. However, Neves is reportedly out of their price range. Whereas, Tielemans wants to join Arsenal over Manchester United.

The Red Devils are under pressure to make more signings this summer. The pressure was increased after they lost to Brighton 2-1 in the Premier League opening match. Another problem is Manchester United fans are planning protests against their owners the Glazer family.
