Manchester United waiting for the ‘perfect opportunity’ for Rice

It’s no secret that Manchester United have held a long interest in West Ham’s defensive midfielder Declan Rice. According to reports, Declan Rice has refused a new contract offered by West Ham and wants to leave.

Moreover, a report from ESPN suggests that he is keen on playing in the Champions League. Over the past few transfer windows, Rice has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea. Meanwhile, Rice played academy football at Chelsea. Declan Rice had an impressive Euro 2020. He started all of England’s games and successfully made it into the finals of the competition.

Declan Rice has been a very important part of the West Ham squad. During the 19/20 season, West Ham were fighting to stay in the Premier League as they found themselves in the bottom half of the table. But things suddenly changed for The Hammers in the 2020/21 season. They were fighting for the Champions League place and almost made it there. They managed to finish ahead of both North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham.

Since Edinson Cavani could leave next summer. Manchester United have a striker as well as a holding midfielder in their shopping list next summer. United had a very successful transfer window. The Red Devils brought in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and returning legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Moreover, the United board is aware that they are still missing one player in the squad and believe Declan Rice is the one.

West Ham value Declan Rice at £100m. But it is understood that this price would drop as his contract runs down at the London Stadium.

Paul Pogba could leave next summer for free as his contract expires next summer. United have limited options when it comes to having a defensive midfielder and won’t hold back on signing Rice.
