Matheus Nunes could potentially go to Man City instead of Liverpool

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Matheus Nunes of Wolverhampton Wanderers is reportedly a target for both Liverpool and Manchester City in this summer’s transfer window.

Both City and Liverpool are interested in signing Matheus Nunes, according to a report published by The Telegraph last week. According to the article, Liverpool are “keen admirers of Nunes”. Journalist Dean Jones also informed GiveMeSport that the Reds want to recruit the 25-year-old.

Personal terms have been agreed upon between Matheus Nunes and Manchester City.

Matheus Nunes appears to want to join City, who last season won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Matheus Nunes’ contract negotiations between Manchester City and Wolves will move further. The Premier League champions submitted an updated bid of €60 million for their top midfield target and are hopeful of closing a deal.

The Portuguese international has reportedly already reached a personal agreement with the Cityzens and is eager to come to the Etihad Stadium, according to Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter post.

Fabrizio Romano has said that City is optimistic in their ability to close a deal for Matheus Nunes. And Liverpool will take this as a blow.

It is also very difficult to imagine Nunes changing his mind about working with manager Pep Guardiola if he has already agreed to personal terms with City.

Wolves would have ideally wished to profit handsomely from such a gifted player. However, they might be open to a lower offer than they had initially thought. O’Neil wants the transfer to be complete as quickly as possible. He wants the team to have enough time to locate a suitable replacement.

Manchester City is hopeful about closing this deal and doesn’t seem to have forgotten about Matheus Nunes. The Portuguese player may succeed on such a great stage in the upcoming years and establish himself as a key member for Guardiola.

In any case, the summer transfer window will close soon. Matheus Nunes has up to five years remaining on his contract. Nunes has directly assisted in two goals during his first and maybe final season with Wolves. He has played in 41 games across all competitions.
